Second breathing setback

Mathias had about a half dozen breathing spells today. Around 8 PM the docs decided to put him on a CPAP. This will help him breathe better.

But they consider it a temporary relief. He would be expected to, if not go off it permanently, at least switch back and forth between this and the previous breathing tube. They don't want him to get too used to having someone else do most of the breathing work for him.

Thx.

Ericka & Patrik -
Hang in there. This is we called the preemie dance. Although the setbacks can be hard to watch and deal with as parents, overall, the process seems to be several steps forward and every now and then a step or two back. Keep your eye on the big picture and know this is all normal! Get your dancing shoes on...

Hang in there guys. I know it's tough, but Mathias has done so well so far that I'm sure he will be fighting to get off that oxygen before you know it. I'm out of town for the next couple of days, but I'll check in this weekend. Take care.

Don't get to discouraged....it is as the dr. said a minor setback. These will come and go just as quickly. Everyday there will be changes, especially now that he is still growing so rapidly. You will, someday very soon look back on this time spent in the hospital and think it was all a dream. Mathias looks like a very strong little boy and you will be home with him in no time.

We ALL have "setbacks" once in awhile but they only make us stronger and even more determined to succeed! Mathias is one tough little cookie and won't let this stop him....look how much he's overcome already. I know it's hard but as a parent sometimes we have to step back and let our little ones find their own way to accomplish things. :)

love to all

Hey Guys! I can't believe how much Mathias has filled out since last week. He looks like he's adding some padding to that little body! And as he grows, he probably needs to learn how to accomodate the need for additional nutrition, oxygen, etc. and thankfully he's in a place where they can immediately help him with that! We're thinking of all of you often, and looking forward to another visit soon. Next time, Mike wants to come too so he can join the Mathias cheering squad in person!

Take care - be in touch again soon!

Hihi!!

Må så gott allihop!

Stor kram
