Working to get off the CPAP
Every four hours the nurses remove the CPAP for a while and go back to the air tube we know and love. It is at the 2 liter/minute setting. When this started a few days ago he didn't normally make it all that long until he started having trouble remembering to breathe. But now he's up to about an hour "off" at a time.
He still has some breathing spells but those are viewed as ok as long as he pulls himself out of them rather than having someone help him. It is going in the right direction even if it is always a bit disappointing to see the CPAP go back on.
-He is now weighing 2lbs 10oz.
-The eye cream regimen for the infection is done!
-Friday we'll have the third brain ultrasound.
He's hard at work preparing for important visitors this weekend.

He really looks great in the last picture! Everything seems to be growing in synch, including his appetite! It will be great when we talk about the birthdays in months, instead of days and weeks. Keep the pictures coming, he is fun to watch. Next year he can get his own eggs at our Easter Egg Hunt. (and his own asparagus...if Patrick doesn't knock him out of the way to get it himself) Rob
I can already picture it....little Mathias on daddy's shoulders walking the ditches looking for yummy asparagus (Rob, I'm sure Patrik will let Mathias pick SOME of the asparagus - won't you Patrik!)
For those of you who don't know the story...when Patrik & Ericka come to SD in the spring we go pick the asparagus that grows wild in the ditches.....Patrik had never done this before and had so much fun spotting it that it was a race to see who could get to it first....of course we all let Patrik THINK he had seen it first and let him win to make him feel good!!! :)
Mathias is looking so amazing, such a little cutie he is!
angie, rob & the boys
Mathias, you are getting sooooo big and looking soooooo good. It is nice to see you without the cpap contraption. You remind me of a little elephant with that on!
It must be hard being compared to all the zoo animals! Continue to do what you do the best.....GROW!
Love, Aunt B
And these days will pass to. A short year from now all of this will be a memory...trust me. Mathias looks great and at the rate you are going you will have your "home life" back in no time.
Happy Easter!!
Jane
CONGRATULATIONS on your one-month-day!!! Right now it´s early morning friday the 14th here in Sweden. Lucas is watching tv - it´s Dora and Niclas and Mathias are still asleep. Today Niclas will have his birthdayparty for his friends so we will eat some cake for you too! We hope you´ll all have a wonderful Easter "over there".
Big hugs from Ålberga
Congratulations to Mathias one-month-birthday today. BUT I realized that I have forgot Patriks birthday. Gongratulations to your 420-month-birthday too, Patrik.
At the same time I will send you all a wish of a happy easter.
