We stopped in for a visit to the Great Lakes Aquarium in Duluth. Had we taken the time to stop and read the signage, it could have been quite educational. Turns out Lake Superior has almost 90 different types of fish in it including salmon, catfish, sturgeon, northern pike, trout, eels (!) and herring. The most fun was the top section of a two-story tank where we could feed the fish.
If I ever take the boys fishing it will probably be a bit disappointing after seeing these!

Up north

We spent a few days up on the north shore of Lake Superior. The weather was a bit chilly and we spend much of our time admiring the view of the lake through the windows. One thing was firmly established in this trip though: when you're four, absolutely nothing rivals the joy of throwing rocks into a lake!

More from the playground

Below are a couple of video clips with Ericka and Mama's-boy.
I think the slide in the first video is made to be real slow for young children. Johan does seem a little disappointed in the lack of speed. It made him happy though that you can both go up and down in it.

Ma-ma!

Turns out Ds are easier to pronounce than Ms.
So for months, Johan has been referring to me as Da-da. But any question asking him to identify his mother usually was met with a blank stare. I would like to lay claim to his first word being Da-da (i.e. me). But, of course, Da-da is not a word in the dictionary - unless you really want to brag and proclaim that my child is a huge Marcel Duchamp enthusiast...
Therefore, with the new addition of Ma-ma to his language lineup, we'll declare that his first word! Welcome to the world of the spoken word, Mama's boy!

Happy Easter!

The boys ventured out on a slightly chilly morning to participate in the city Easter egg hunt. Chasing eggs can be considered an athletic activity. That's why they're donning the semi-official hat of the Swedish contestants in the 2010 winter olympics - thanks Grandma!
This morning the Easter Bunny had made a delivery as well. So there is no candy shortage at our house...
We hope your easter basket is full!
