Junior Scientists

Every two years Mathias' elementary school holds a science fair. Kids who want to can conduct a science experiment and make a poster board explaining what they did. Mathias (and I) did an egg-boiling experiment. The goal was to figure out how long it would take to boil the perfect egg. We decided to define 'the perfectly boiled egg' as whatever Mathias thought was most appetizing.
So we boiled eggs for 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 minutes. Each egg was cut in two and documented with a photo and a description of the white and the yolk.
The result?
If you're a junior scientist, the best egg is boiled for 11 minutes. (If you're a senior scientist, 7 is a good number too... ).

On a roll

On a day when big brother was living it up at a birthday party, Johan and I went bowling. I'm not sure what Ericka did. She might have been home enjoying the peace and quiet! With both of us being infrequent bowlers at best we set the goal of having nobody drop a ball on their toes.  And we met that goal. There were no injuries during the outing.  During the day, Johan's technique evolved and he pretty quickly abandoned the kids ramp in favor of throwing the ball down the lane.
Some times it worked better than others. Next time we might work on figuring out what to do with the holes in the ball...
