A visitor for Christmas

Grandpa Charlie came and visited over Christmas. They boys don't get to see him as often as they would like to and they very much enjoyed his company. Mathias especially enjoyed the joint art projects drawing hockey players.  After he went home, Johan was heard several time saying I miss grandpa!  The boys are already planning for the next visit in the spring.

Skating with the team

Mathias has fully embraced hockey. With a couple of months under his belt he is making good progress with his skating. Look for number 12 in the yellow jersey.  At some future NHL retrospective, this will be shown as where it all began! 

Skating in the city

We spent an evening at the Union Depot indoor skating arena in Minneapolis. Mathias skating has come a long way in a short time of playing hockey. This he got to showcase in a rather crowded setting on a busy night. He looks pretty small without all the hockey padding!

And it's about time!

After all these years of unflattering photos of dad sawing down the family Christmas tree... I finally passed the baton to Mathias!  He was more than eager to take a shift with the Sandvik steel to bring home 12 feet of pine scented glory.  OK, so I helped him a little bit in the middle when the going got tough. But he did the start and the end.  Johan was a terrific cheerleader for his brother. 

Per usual we celebrated bagging the trophy with hot cider and a cookie!
