Looking the part

As Mathias is now getting into hockey it is important to look the part.... With perfect timing he lost a key tooth to create a good size gap. Lets play hockey!

Drop the puck!

Mathias has joined the ranks of hockey players!
Last Saturday the team spent the entire practice figuring out how to get the equipment on. No ice time. This Saturday they got to do some actual skating.  Mathias is really really liking it. We might get to look forward to spending much more time in cold ice rinks.

Birthday bash at the ice cream shop

Johan and a gaggle of his friends celebrated his birthday at the nearby Ben & Jerry's store.
The kids got to make homemade ice cream (there is still some of it left in our fridge!).  They also made tie-dye t-shirts (to go with the B&J hippie theme) and they got to make their own waffle bowls. Oh, and yes, they got to eat ice cream out of their self-made bowls.
After the feasting, the kinds went to a playground to burn off a thin sliver of the ice cream energy!

A magical age

Mathias was up at the crack of dawn, ready to serve his brother breakfast in bed.  Yes, Johan turned 6 today. That, by the way, is the same age as the main character in Calvin and Hobbes. Just saying...
Ericka was able to make an appearance for the little party at Kindergarten during the afternoon.  Johan was the first kid of the semester with a birthday!
As the birthday boy, he requested French Toast for dinner. Then, loaded up on sugar from the syrup and the birthday cake, he and his brother played with the new toys. A big thanks to all who remembered him on his 6th birthday!  Yes, there were cows on his birthday cake. They have a special place in his heart.

Back to school!

With labor day over and done with, summer is officially over and it's time to go back to school.  Actually, for some it is time to go to school for the first time.  Johan is going into Kindergarten! He will take the bus there and be guided on the journey and through the school by big brother and - now second grader - Mathias.

Early reports indicate the day went very well for both boys! The school year is off to a great start!
