Scouting law enforcement

The cub scouts made a field trip to a nearby police station. Officer Anderson gave them a tour of the station and the equipment a policeman carries with him/her on the job (a lot of stuff!). They also got to try some hands on work dusting a 'suspect' vehicle for finger prints.

101 days & dogs

The first graders have observed their 101th day of school. That means we're not quite on the home stretch... But the end of the school year is in sight!
The kids (the few that were actually there in these cold, flu, and stomach bug times) celebrated by watching the movie The 101 Dalmatians and making Dalmatian ears.
Pretty soon it will be spring break. After that, the end of 1st will be near!

Out of town hockey

This was Mathias' first road trip hockey event. We traveled to Albert Lea for a four game tournament against other C level squirt teams. And we stayed at a hotel with a pool no less! While everyone had fun, things were rough on the ice. In four losses the Tigers took in 18 goals and scored ONE.  The highlight for Mathias was that he was the one scoring the sole goal. He was quite excited about that. But overall, the hockey was a bit of a let down.  He has no second thoughts about playing though. And as the season is winding down he's already looking forward to next year!

A mid-winter thaw

Somewhat unexpectedly, we got a glimpse of spring right before Groundhog Day. Ericka and Mathias spent the day on the slopes. Yes, the snow got soggy in the afternoon but the sunshine more than made up for it.
