Spirit Mountain

We took a late season trip to Duluth to ski at Spirit Mountain. The weather was top notch, which made the snow a little soggy. But as long as you don't fall down at least you stay dry. Mathias has a new found love of all things jumping on skis. This slows him down a bit as he's winding down the hills looking for bumps and the rest of us can keep up. Johan is also speeding up. We may be getting ready for the Rockies or the Alps.

Hockey weekend in Buffalo

We had the opportunity to play the closest thing to a 'home' tournament without playing on home ice. We took the short trip to nearby Buffalo for some rink action. It was Mathias turn in the net. In the pool play, the team had a fabulous start beating Blaine.  This was the team's first win in a tournament this year!
After a brief 2 hour rest we were back on the ice.  The boys looked tired and we lost to the home team.  Our third bout was against North Metro. The game ended in a tie (2-2) in spite of the Tigers out-shooting the Pirates by a whopping 42-10.
All in all this qualified the Tigers to play for third place in the tournament.  This game was quite lopsided and it was clear after 30 seconds that the team had no chance against the (Princeton) Tigers.
I think everyone came away feeling pretty good about it.

Row, row, row your boat

Johan has a way of sometimes showing impressive determination and stamina.  Last week he landed on a rowing machine. And he sat there rowing for 66 minutes watching the 'distance' numbers go up. An hour later we had to leave and he was disappointed he didn't make 10,000 meters.
Oh, well... there is always next time.
