Moving on to the next holiday

Barely had we polished off the Thanks-giving leftovers and bid farewell to our holiday visitors before we moved on to the next event. Let's get started on Christmas!
First up: the tree! The boys cheerfully supervised the selection process and the cutting of the first tangible sign Christmas is coming. It's closer than you think! Deck the halls!

Thanksgiving

We hope that in between digesting a huge turkey meal, cheering for/against the Dallas Cowboys, and planning tomorrow's shopping strategies, you find some time to reflect on all reasons you have to be thankful this year.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Like mother like son

Ericka introduced Mathias to the glamorous world of painted toenails. He thought it was the greatest thing ever. He's already talking about what color do do once this coat wears off.
If you're hawk eyed you noticed that in the photo he is still wearing the snowmobile suit...

Winter's #1 fan

So... there's snow on the ground.
Mathias is loving every minute of it! In fact, the past three nights he has insisted on sleeping in his snowmobile suit - including having the hood on his head. It has to be hotter than Hades (especially under several additional blankets), but whatever floats his boat, right?! You learn to pick your battles and this isn't one of them.

Winter!

Is it still a snow day when the 10 inches of snow drops down on a Saturday?
In either case, much fun was had sledding, playing in the snow, and building a snow man. The snow man made it about 4 hours before he collapsed! Rumor has it it will be warm the next couple of days. I'm sure some will be disappointed when we can see the lawn again...

Daylight savings

If you enjoyed the extra hour of sleep that was the result of Saturday's shift back in daylight savings time... good for you!
Not everyone is on board with mornings arriving an hour later. The last two mornings we've been woken up at 5 by two wide awake boys. This morning Mathias climbed into our bed insisting that he and his brother play 'frogs' by jumping around on all fours.
Early bird gets the worm!

A sign of the times

Your iPod or iPhone maintains an automatic list of its 25 most played songs. I noticed the other day that on mine every single song in the Top 25 is by Raffi. If you aren't familiar with him, he plays songs for kids. The repertoire includes such hits as Baby Beluga, Biscuits in the Oven, and Johsua Giraffe...
It seems like just about every day I'm adding something for Mathias and making room for it by deleting something I never have time to listen to anyway.
For Christmas, I want my own iPod!

Now signing autographs

With a little practice Mathias is now able to write his name without any assistance. On that note we're making two observations:
  • His handwriting comes with surrealistic styling cues reminiscent of Dali's The Persistence of Memory
  • His penmanship already trumps that of his dad
Send us a self addressed stamped envelope and you can have your very own autographed photo!
