The combined year end hockey party and birthday party

Here's the situation:  The Squirt hockey team  needed to hold a season-end party. Mathias wanted to have his birthday party at the hockey rink. Any way of combining the two? Why, yes there is. Introducing the year-end birthday party!

 It was Mathias, the hockey team, and a few more friends on the ice having fun for an hour and a half followed by them devouring six large pizzas and an ice cream cake. 

Oh, and Johan was on the ice too.  He was perhaps a tad slow to keep up with the rest of them. But he had a great time being skating with the big kids.

When it is your birthday you get to choose your dinner.  In Mathias' case he chose macaroni & cheese.  Combine that with some pineapple and put it on a yellow plate and you have a very monochromatic feast. Instead of a cake he requested a chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream.  Kind of a cheap date! Thanks to everyone who gave him nice things for his birthday!

One more trip to Duluth for the year

With winter making a - hopefully brief - return, we decided to make one more go at skiing in Duluth.  A few days of spring weather seems to made everyone a bit soft. Even though it was barely below freezing and sunny... everyone thought it was cold out. But in between the visits to the warm-up house the skiing was terrific and the crowd was minimal!

The end of the 2016/17 Hockey Season

With a short playoff career the playoffs ended for the Squirt Tigers.  It was a double elimination tournament and the boys were doubly eliminate in two straight games.   The first game wasn't particularly close. The second was a nail biter. But in the end they were sent home on day two of the tournament.  Now we'll have almost 4 weeks of quiet until the spring MASH league begins.  It was a fun year and Mathias made good friends at the Squirt team. Next stop Peewees!
