For a professorial look

In his kindergarten screening it was suggested that Johan could benefit from a vision check. Said and done. Johan, it turns out, is far sighted. He was outfitted with a pair of specs that will be finished and delivered in a couple of days.  He didn't say much about getting glasses.
I'm not sure he has realized yet that he will wear these outside the doctor's office too...

Is that real?

Many years ago...  I was young.  Life was simple in that TV and movie technologies were rather primitive. If something was trick-filmed it was fairly obvious that what was shown wasn't quite reality.
Nowadays, through the miracle of computer generated imagery, anything can appear on a screen looking pretty life-like.  The other day, the TV was on with some kind of nature show. It was showing a volcano spewing lava into the ocean and Mathias asked me if it was real.  My first thought was "of course it is real. It's a volcano"... But how would you really know if you are accustomed to seeing talking cars, monsters, and flying houses on TV (none of that, by the way, is real)?
So yes, volcanoes are real. It really happens.

Medicine in bulk

We had a cold breeze through our house in the past week.  About five days apart the boys both came down with ear infections.
Mathias' was pretty uneventful. Johan's turned into a full blow ear ache. Now they are both on the same anti-biotic in the same dose (although at the clinic weigh-in Johan outweighed his brother by 3 pounds).
