Trick or treat!

For the first time in a while, Halloween wasn't overly cold. So after a dinner of mummies, banana ghosts, and green milk they were ready to hit the road! A grim reaper-esque frightening creature and his pirate sidekick set out to scare up some candy. And candy they got. Now we just need to figure out how to make most of it disappear...

The turboprop generation

Johan's cub scout troop (including siblings) was invited to the local airfield to learn about planes. After getting an education in the basics of an airplane, how an airport works, and safety; the question was posed: would anyone like to go for a spin?  Needless to say, for most of the kids the answer was a resounding YES!
Mathias and Johan got to go for a trip in a Mooney M20C - a low-wing 4-seater with a cruising speed of 165MPH. Did they like it? Um, Yes!
By the way, you can readily identify a Mooney by its distinctive empennage (there's a big word!) including a vertical leading edge to its tail fin! Tuck that away for your next appearance on Jeopardy.
Sorry kids, the answer is NO. Mom will not let us get a plane. Don't even ask.

A second hockey player?

After sitting through countless practices and games for his brother, Johan is giving hockey a try. Picture 58 kids on the ice, a big group of them having barely been on skates before. Johan, having skated before definitely held his own!
Afterwards he said he liked it. But he didn't want to commit to playing... yet. We'll see how it goes. This intro class goes for 6 weeks.

A climbing party

A mere three weeks after his birthday, Johan had a party to celebrate. Faced with a myriad of choices, Johan chose to celebrate climbing rocks. We went to Baker Park where Ann, our trusted guide, introduced us to climbing. The boys and girls had a blast. And the harnesses were sized for grown ups too!
