Finally summer: let's not stop playing hockey just because it is 90 degrees out!

Yes, hockey goes practically year-round.
Being 9, Mathias was moved up to Squirt level hockey. In the short time skating with the 'older' kids he has learned a lot and his skills seem to have improved.  He will miss the friends from Mites that aren't moving up. But he is quickly getting acclimated to a new crowd.

Finally summer: let's play baseball (again)!

Mathias played a second season of coach pitch baseball on Team Storm.  The team had a terrific season.  Mathias was surprisingly fond of playing the position of catcher.  Makes one wonder if that will last into next year when the pitchers will start coming faster?

Finally summer: let's go to the farm

Johan spent a week at 'farm camp'.  This means he took a bus out to spend a few days at a real live farm. There he (and a few colleagues got to feed and milk cows, harvest vegetables, feed chicken, and make their own food (fresh from the farm).  He had a blast and definitely will do it again next summer.

Finally summer: let's play baseball!

Johan's teeball career has taken a big jump from last year.  He has improved his catching and hitting skills quite a bit from the previous season.  He's having a blast out there and is mighty proud when he catches a ball.

Finally summer: let's throw rocks into Lake Superior!

We spent a lovely weekend in a tent on the north shore. We took several hikes to explore the scenery. The boys also did some fishing, although no fish were actually caught. And most importantly the boys spent hours collecting 'treasures' on the shore, practicing skipping stones, and just generally throwing rocks in the lake. Sometimes it's the simple pleasures that are the most meaningful.
