Vacation on I90
Last week we took Mathias on his longest road trip so far. The first stop was Sioux Falls where we visited grandpa Charlie and great-grandma Cecile (who is now 100!).
[Hawaiian shirts run in the family...]In the other end of South Dakota we stopped in the Black Hills and the lovely Blue Bell lodge in Custer Park. M dipped his toes in Sylvan Lake and had bread pudding at the Alpine Inn.
Then: onward west!
Few things trump having a house in the mountains of Montana. One of those things would be knowing someone with a house in the mountains of Montana! We visited aunt Marci and cousin Megan in Bozeman. A good time was had by all. We laughed at M's antics. M laughed at the puppy dogs. The trout laughed at Dad's feeble attempts at presenting a bead head caddis.
Mathias was a terrific traveler. Of course, everyone gets a bit cranky after a few hours in a car but he held up amazingly well. Kudos should also be extended to Ericka for being the tireless entertainer in the back seat!
Thanks to Marci and Megan for their hospitality!

Catching up...
We've been on vacation for the past week and a half.
Since the last post, we have celebrated:
Since the last post, we have celebrated:
- June 17th: Father's day.
Dad got a buffalo burger in the Black Hills.
- June 18th: M's intended birth day.
He was supposed to turn 1 last Monday!
Need we say more!
Ps. the song in the previous post was you are mine by David Haas.

A song for whoever
Liberace, Gottschalk, Helfgott...
They all started somewhere: as a sidekick to someone who could play.

Looking for Aunt B
For a moment, Aunt B (and Jonah) was here...
Like Nanny McPhee and Mary Poppins, she had to move on. But she left a great void! Without her, food doesn't taste as good (mom and dad don't serve ice cream), playing isn't as fun (mom and dad frown upon jumping from furniture), music doesn't have the same ring (mom and dad put the lid down on the piano), and all is dull. Come back soon!
PS. Thanks for being our baby sitting pinch hitter last week!

If you're happy and you know it...
... as they say: clap your hands!
During the weekend we have been working on hand-clapping and we're starting to get the hang of it!
Since the actual clapping has never been documented we'll make do with a photo displaying the bath tub ear contraption. While it is a pain to get set up it doesn't dampen the spirit once in place.
Next up: the bye-bye wave!
